The Story
HANNYA
A Japanese mask, over 500 years old.
It's a woman's face.
Jealousy and rage,
mid-transformation into a serpent.
Three stages.
Namanari, horns breaking through.
Hannya, horns and fangs complete.
Shinja, fully serpent.
The hannya is the second one.
Horns and fangs already serpent,
but the brow and eyes are still human.
Someone 500 years ago carved this face out of wood.
Put it on stage. People paid to watch it.
Everyone knew the feeling.
Five hundred years, different countries,
and we haven't changed much.
Figured you might know the feeling too.
Made by the first 53 of the Yoriai.

53 people voted, argued, and decided on it together.
From the back print to the front logo,
every choice was made in the Yoriai.
A yoriai was a village gathering in old Japan,
where everyone sat together and decided as one.
